Where The Donations Go - FOBP's Programs & ActivitiesPeople often ask us, how do you utilize donations to FOBP. We have provided a partial listing of our many programs and activities so you can get an idea of where the money goes... Click HERE to review FOBP's programs and learn how we assist law enforcement How FOBP's Mission ExpandedWith the infamous prosecution cases of U.S. Border Patrol Agents Ramos and Compean and the lesser known cases of Agents Sipe, Brugman, Customs Officer Rhodes, and Deputy Sheriff Hernandez, the role of FOBP evolved and expanded in 2006 to meet the newest threat to law enforcement - being attacked by their own for doing their job. We investigated many cases, assisting where possible, and discovered a pattern of abuse that includes suppression of evidence and suborning perjury by our own government. We have come to call this pattern of cases "The War on Law Enforcement", which you can learn more about at our newest section, and by reading our newest report, which outlines it fully (just below our site menu to the right). Today, we are assisting a number of cases involving officers and agents from CBP Customs, Border Patrol, ICE, and other agencies. One ongoing case that you can read and learn about right now is the CBP Officer Brian Israel case to overturn a bad firing by Customs for their own incompetence. Please read the press releases on his case, which we are certain you'll find completely appalling, and before thinking otherwise, FOBP was at the hearing and can attest to the accuracy based on the sworn testimony presented. FOBP's 2008 GoalsAmong FOBP's goals for 2008 includes - raising $250,000 for our Legal Defense Fund alone, which will help assist new cases that have been brought to our attention with legal fees, and relief if needed. If the past has shown anything, its that the government has a bottomless well for a budget, while the officers can only pay so much before losing everything. Your donations help pay for officer legal costs, including attorneys fees, depositions, investigations, etc, each of which are vital to an officer's defense and cost substantially. Often officers also may need relief funds to help keep them afloat while trying to win their cases. Officers fired on trumped up charges, or being falsely prosecuted, find great difficulty in securing employment, and are not paid by their agencies while under suspension. We also need help to support a new grant program to help assist law enforcement agencies who we are currently working with who so desperately need new materials including vehicles. The residents of these impoverished border counties can only assist so much. This program alone needs at least one million dollars, which the agencies have informed us they will accept. Keep in mind, our own efforts are not without cost, nor do we have an unlimited well of funds available. In order to continue helping law enforcement directly, through our continuing field investigations, and reports to Congressional Oversight Committees, it will take everyone's help to keep FOBP operational. How FOBP Advocates For Law EnforcementFOBP is unlike other organizations confronting border security issues. FOBP is a multifaceted non-partisan 501 (c) (3) organization (non-profit) which maintains a primary role of directly assisting all border law enforcement officers in the performance of their lawful duties. We assist "whistle blowers" in disclosing critical information, aid in providing attorneys to agent's wrongly prosecuted or removed from their positions, conduct extensive information gathering and analysis, and speak authoritatively on border security issues. FOBP has testified before Congressional committees, prepared position papers and submitted written testimony before Congress, and spoken publicly regarding the situation facing national security professionals. Our organization relies, in significant part, on a network of current and former law enforcement officers as well as specialists in the area of federal labor and employee relations, and attorneys assisting their LEO clients. If the primary motivation that so many claim is to help our officers, rather finance publicity motivated activities such as fence building, or border watches, you can directly help our own law enforcement officers under siege by our own government by supporting our work. Support our work and say today, "Yes, I am a Friend of the Border Patrol, and of law enforcement." |
