Welcome to Friends of the Border Patrol and our website. FOBP was created in 2004 with
the primary objective of educating the public concerning duties, responsibilities, and effectiveness of federal law
enforcement officers and operations in domestic border security.
Through the generous tax deductible donations of supporters, FOBP provides technical, financial, and legal support of law
enforcement agents/officers and unlike donations made to many unions or groups, donations to FOBP are one-hundred
percent tax deductible. Furthermore, we provide assistance to all law enforcement officers engaged in
their duties regardless of agency or union affiliation.
Below, you can learn about our programs and activities, how our original mission has expanded over time, our updated
organizational goals, and how we serve as law enforcement advocates. We don't advocate other issues that have nothing to
do with national/border security and then ask you for a donation by bandwagoning on a single issue where security or agents
are mentioned. Also, we don't ask you to donate to us because we offer fax forms/report cards, or an occasional media
focused lobby event. We focus solely on border/national security and the agents, deputies, officers, and troopers defending
America. We specialize in assisting law enforcement whistleblowers fighting trumped up charges by incompetent managers to
discredit officers exposing security compromises.
Keep in mind that we cannot operate and assist America's officers, or expose security compromises without your generous
100% tax-deductible donation. America's officers need to do their jobs without obstruction or intimidation from the
Johnny Sutton's of the world. However, they cannot do their jobs or blow the whistle without independent public advocates
who are not employed by the same agency. We don't have a labor pool of employees paying dues maintaining our efforts. As a
result, it makes your help even more imperative for us to continue our work. We think you'll agree, FOBP works and fills a
need no one else does, which benefits law enforcement and our communities.
Where The Donations Go - FOBP's Programs & Activities
People often ask us, how does FOBP utilize donations outside of assisting the officers financially? Simply put we
conduct investigations that don't always get reported to the media. In all honesty, some issues cannot be discussed
publicly unless heard in direct testimony before the Congress due to the sensitive materials involved. Many officers won't
talk over the phone due to the Patriot Act, which requires us to meet in person to discuss things further. It takes
donations and grants to meet in person with law enforcement officers, observe the borders and ports of entry, and to travel
to Washington DC and report often sensitive operational matters to Congressional Committees and leaders.
We have provided a partial listing of our many programs and activities so you can get an idea of where the money goes...

How FOBP's Mission Expanded
With the infamous prosecution cases of U.S. Border Patrol Agents Ramos and Compean and the lesser known cases of Agents
Sipe, Brugman, Customs Officer Rhodes, and Deputy Sheriff Hernandez, the role of FOBP evolved and expanded in 2006 to meet
the newest threat to law enforcement - being attacked by their own for doing their job. We investigated many cases,
assisting where possible, and discovered a pattern of abuse that includes suppression of evidence and suborning perjury by
our own government. We have come to call this pattern of cases "The War on Law Enforcement", which you can learn more about
at our newest section, and by reading our newest report, which outlines it fully (just below our site menu to the right).
Today, we are assisting a number of attorneys working on cases involving officers and agents from CBP Customs, Border
Patrol, ICE, and other agencies. One ongoing case that you can read and learn about right now is the CBP Officer Brian
Israel case to overturn a bad firing by Customs for their own incompetence. Please read the press releases on his case,
which we are certain you'll find completely appalling, and before thinking otherwise, FOBP was at the hearing and can
attest to the accuracy based on the sworn testimony presented.
FOBP's 2008 Goals
Among FOBP's goals for 2008 includes - raising $250,000 for our Legal Defense Fund alone, which will help assist new cases
that have been brought to our attention with legal fees, and relief if needed. If the past has shown anything, its that
the government has a bottomless well for a budget, while the officers can only pay so much before losing everything. Your
donations help pay for officer legal costs, including attorneys fees, depositions, investigations, etc, each of which are
vital to an officer's defense and cost substantially. Often officers also may need relief funds to help keep them afloat
while trying to win their cases. Officers fired on trumped up charges, or being falsely prosecuted, find great difficulty
in securing employment, and are not paid by their agencies while under suspension.
We also need help to support a new grant program to help assist law enforcement agencies who we are currently working with
who so desperately need new materials including vehicles. The residents of these impoverished border counties can only
assist so much. This program alone needs at least one million dollars, which the agencies have informed us they will
accept.
Keep in mind, our own efforts are not without cost, nor do we have an unlimited well of funds available. In order to
continue helping law enforcement directly, through our continuing field investigations, and reports to Congressional
Oversight Committees, it will take everyone's help to keep FOBP operational.
How FOBP Advocates For Law Enforcement
FOBP is unlike other organizations confronting border security issues. FOBP is a multifaceted
non-partisan 501 (c) (3) organization (non-profit) which maintains a primary role of directly assisting all border law
enforcement officers in the performance of their lawful duties. We assist "whistle blowers" in disclosing critical
information, aid in providing attorneys to agent's wrongly prosecuted or removed from their positions, conduct extensive
information gathering and analysis, and speak authoritatively on border security issues. FOBP has testified before
Congressional committees, prepared position papers and submitted written testimony before Congress, and spoken publicly
regarding the situation facing national security professionals. Our organization relies, in significant part, on a
network of current and former law enforcement officers as well as specialists in the area of federal labor and employee
relations, and attorneys assisting their LEO clients.
If the primary motivation that so many claim is to help our officers, rather finance publicity motivated activities such
as fence building, or border watches, you can directly help our own law enforcement officers under siege by our own
government by supporting our work. Support our work and say today, "Yes, I am a Friend of the Border Patrol, and of law
enforcement."
